Book Rating (out of 5):
You by Caroline Kepnes is about Joe. Joe is a bookseller and when Beck walks into his book shop, he is instantly smitten. But Joe isn’t a regular guy. Joe isn’t going to ask you out and hope for the best. No, Joe has a plan.
See you bought a book from Joe and now he has your name. He can find you on social media. He finds out where you live. He knows who your friends are. Somehow he gets access to your e-mail. And Joe becomes your stalker until he can ultimately convince you that you are into him too. Yes, there is serious cause for concern here, but you don’t even know that you should be concerned yet. Yikes!
I really loved this book. I don’t know what it is with me and books about insane people, but I found this to be wildly entertaining. Joe is a nut bag and you are in his crazy head experiencing his obsession for Beck. In some ways you like Joe even despite who and what he is. What helps is that you don’t always like Beck (aka You), and together they are a recipe for disaster.
I really like Kepnes’ writing style and the story just flowed effortlessly. You is a quick, easy and crazy entertaining read, if you enjoy reading about insane people, like I do. 🙂
