Book Review: One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

Book Rating (out of 5):

This is probably the first time in a long time that I’ve given a book 5 stars. And it wasn’t because it was perfect, but damn was it entertaining. I devoured this book whole in a day, which is why it’s on my list of favorite reads of 2017.

One of Us is Lying is The Breakfast Club meets a whodunnit. We get all of the stereotypical, one-dimensional, high school caricatures. But wait, are they really who they appear???

The lives of 5 students are thrown into turmoil when they all end up in detention together one afternoon and only 4 students leave detention alive. Simon, who is notorious for his gossip app, doesn’t survive detention and the remaining 4 students in the room are on the short list of suspects.

Was it the brain? Or the beauty? Or the criminal? Or the athlete? Or is there someone else out there playing puppet master?
